Foundations

Building foundations are one of the most important parts of any construction project. They serve two primary functions:

To distribute the weight of the building evenly over the underlying soil, so that it does not collapse.

To provide a firm footing for the building, so that it is not susceptible to movement or damage from wind, rain, or other forces.

The type of foundation that is used will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the building, the type of soil on the site, and the local climate. For example, shallow foundations are typically used for small buildings on firm soil, while deep foundations are used for larger buildings on weak soil or in areas that are prone to earthquakes.
